Addressing a news conference, Naik said, “Even though the government has lifted the ban on mining operations, it will take a lot of time to boom as many clearances and environmental formalities need to be done.”
“The government is simply fooling the Bahujan Samaj. Parrikar committed mistake by banning mining claiming irregularities to the tune of several crores of rupees, but till date no one is found guilty nor any minister punished,” stated Naik.
“The government has now realised its mistake and intentions. Where have the crores of rupees gone?” Naik questioned.
He further said now the burden of loans is on Goans and mining will require developing clients to purchase its ore.
“These people suffered a lot due to mining ban during the last two-and-half years. Due to this, annual royalty of Rs 900 crore was missed by the Goa exchequer,” said Naik.
“The government also failed to fulfil the assurances that were given to be fulfilled in 100 days like closing casinos, garbage free Goa, address parking problems. The government failed to fulfil these promises even after 1000 days.”
