PANJIM: The State cabinet on Thursday granted its green signal for direct recruitment with no mandatory prior NOC requirement from Personnel Department. It has also decided to clear all hurdles in the recruitment process and issue advertisements for most of the posts by January 10. Nearly 2000-odd vacancies in 45 departments are to be filled.
Filling up of pending
vacancies was the top item on the agenda for the cabinet meeting held on Thursday at Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s personal residence at Dona Paula. A notification stating no mandatory requirement of prior NOC from Personnel Department will be issued on Monday, December 24.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that during the last cabinet meeting a policy decision was taken to grant powers to individual departments to advertise the posts and that NOC from Personnel Department would not be required.
“Notification will be issued on coming Monday and all the departments will individually be able to advertise the posts. By January 10, advertisements for all the posts in most of the departments would be issued,” he said.
When asked, Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai said that some Ministers had raised concerns with regards to NOC from Personnel Department as it was delaying the process of recruitment. “Chief Minister today gave instruction to issue notification and give powers to the concerned departments,” he said. Sardesai said that freedom fighter cases would not be included in the notification.
The cabinet also granted approval for a new Rs 232 crore power sub-station at Verna.
