PORVORIM: A decomposed male body was found in a suitcase near the Tar Bridge at Mapusa late Monday evening.
According to Mapusa Police, some workers who were working near the Tar Bridge noticed a suitcase at about 7.30 pm. Since foul smell was emanating from it, the workers alerted their contractor, who in turn informed the Mapusa Police.
Mapusa Police rushed to the site and when they opened the suitcase, they found a decomposed male body. Anjuna Police Inspector Paresh Naik also rushed to the site to assist the Mapusa Police.
When contacted, Mapusa Police informed that more details in the matter will be known only after conducting panchanama of the body. Till late Monday night, police were at the site conducting the panchanama.
Police suspect that the murder must have taken place some days ago and the deceased is suspected to be about 50 years. The body was found cut into pieces.
Police further informed that the body will be sent to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim for post-mortem, which will be conducted on Tuesday.
