MARGAO: Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday announced that the much-awaited Deendayal Health Scheme will be finally implemented in the state within the next 3-4 months.
“The scheme will receive the final touches in the next 10-15 days and it will be finally implemented within the next three-four months wherein people will get free medical services across the State”, he said, while launching the NUSI Wockhardt Hospital’s Cuncolikar’s Privilege Card at the hospital premises at Panzorconne-Cuncolim on Monday evening.
He said the government is seriously contemplating empanelling the private super-specialty hospital under the Deendayal health scheme to give relief to the people and reduce burden on the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
“This government sincerely believes that a health society is a prerequisite for a vibrant state. Hence, we have decided to come out with the scheme which will take care of the requirements of the citizens”, Parsekar said.
Stating that Goa stands number one on the health front, he,  however, expressed his concern over the rising cardiac, cancer and diabetes cases in the State on account of changing lifestyle.
Cuncolim MLA Rajan Naik made a fervent plea to the NUSI Wockhardt management to provide prompt casualty services to patients from Cuncolim. He also requested the health minister to empanel NUSI Wockhardt Hospital under the Deendayal Health Scheme for the benefit of the people of Cuncolim.
NUSI Wockhardt Centre Head Dr Anuj Tiwari said the launch of the Cuncolikar Privilege Card is a gesture from the hospital towards the social commitment for the welfare of the society. “People who enroll themselves will get concession on room rent, investigation, diagnostic procedure, OPD consultation and free ambulance services. This privilege card is first of its kind which has been developed for the local community”, he said, adding the hospital will undertake interactive health lectures by doctors for the members with the objective of keeping them aware of the preventive and curative aspects of healthcare.
