The arrest followed his failure to clear outstanding arrears of land revenue despite repeated notices and legal proceedings initiated by the authorities.

The North Goa Collector Sneha Gitte, IAS had issued an arrest warrant on January 30, 2024 directing the Panjim police to execute the warrant and hand over the defaulter to the Colvale Jail incharge.

The Goa Land Revenue Code, 1968, mandates the timely payment of land revenue dues, and empowers the authorities to take stringent measures, including

arrest, for recovery of arrears. In this case,
