VASCO: The newly-elected Deputy Sarpanch of Chicalim village panchayat Kamla Prasad Yadav on Friday demanded that the home department should fulfil the long-pending demand of a police outpost in the area.
According to Yadav, the population in Dabolim area, which falls under the Vasco police station is part of Chicalim VP, has been increasing drastically over the years and emphasised that having an outpost with two or three policemen would decrease the hardships of people in the locality, including that of Bogmalo, which also has tourist-related cases.
Dabolim residents have been constantly demanding a police outpost in the area,  Yadav said, adding that the outpost would provide speedy service in cases of accidents and crime, instead of awaiting help arriving from Vasco.
The Deputy Sarpanch said a proposal had been forwarded to the Panchayat Minister and Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho and was hopeful that demands would be fulfilled very soon and if required a gram sabha resolution too could be adopted.
Later speaking to reporters, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho affirmed that he had received a proposal from local leaders about police outpost in the area and promised to put up a note to the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who also holds Home Department portfolio
