MARGAO: The Salcete demolition squad had to return without demolishing structures at Sernabatim after the official in charge of identifying the structures failed to turn up at the site, on Friday.
The demolition squad headed by Salcete Mamlatdar was forced to wait at the site from 9.30 am till 12.30 pm in the afternoon with their machinery. According to officials, all the structures of a guesthouse were ordered to be removed by the GCZMA after an order of the National Green Tribunal in a petition filed by Colva Civic and Consumer Forum.
The Police, PWD and Water supply were called for the demolition. However, even after calling several times, the official of GCZMA failed to turn up forcing the demolition squad to call off the demolition.
Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar said that he would be filing a report of the entire episode.
