MARGAO: Kavesh Gosavi, who was accused of involvement in a spate of temple desecrations, has come out clean in two cases so far for want of evidence, even as trial is underway in another two cases pending against him.
Gosavi, who was accused by the Cuncolim police for his involvement in the desecration of a place of worship of “Rakhandar” at Cuncolim has been acquitted by a Margao court last week. His lawyer, Adv Amay Prabhudessai said that Gosavi was earlier discharged by a Quepem court in a similar case after the criminal charges against the accused failed to stand in the court of law.
“Gosavi has been acquitted and discharged in two out of four cases registered against him in South Goa. In the remaining two cases, the Court has framed charges against my client, which has been challenged in the South Goa Sessions Court,” Adv Prabhudessai said.
As far as the Cuncolim desecration case is concerned, the court has acquitted Gosavi for want of any evidence, he said, adding “there’s zero evidence against Gosavi in the Rakhandar desecration case. Even the investigating officer had submitted before the court that there’s no iota of evidence against the accused in the case.”
