VASCO: Curchorem MLA and BJP Spokesperson Nilesh Cabral on Saturday claimed that the man arrested for desecration was a supporter for Aam Admi Party (AAP) and police has been given directions to find out whether it was AAP or anybody else also involved in the case.
Addressing a press conference at Bogmalo on Saturday, Cabral said it was very unfortunate that Francis Pereira who was arrested by police for desecrating religious places was from my constituency.
“One thing that I want to share with the people of Goa is that after the accused was arrested, I had asked him few questions and his reply was shocking. I asked him as to why he did such an act. To this Pereira replied that he was actually releasing the souls by his act,” Cabral said.
Then I asked him, that as a voter from Curchorem constituency whom he had voted and he replied that during 2012 assembly polls, his family voted for me, but not him. However, in the 2017 assembly polls he and his family decided to work against me and to support AAP,” the Curchorem MLA said.
“Now I don’t know whether there is any link here or not but one thing I definitely know is the fact that he was actively canvassing for the AAP during recently-held assembly elections,” he said.
