MAPUSA: The devotees of Shree Lairai Devi of Shirgao, on Tuesday marched on the Mapusa Police Station, demanding action against activist Shreya Dhargalkar for comments on the deity, devotees and the Dhond community.
The devotees also demanded that the minor girl, who posted on social media about pollution caused during the festival should apologise at the temple and also seek apologies from devotees whose sentiments were hurt by her post.
The girl’s mother had tendered a public apology through a video on social media and also reported to the police station, earlier.
On Monday, the devotees of Shree Lairai Devi along with Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye and Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, had marched to the Bicholim Police Station, demanding immediate arrest of Shreya Dhargalkar and to further extern her.
The Bicholim Police have now registered a case against Dhargalkar, who is presently admitted to the hospital after she was arrested by the Cuncolim Police for passing derogatory comments and hurting religious sentiments.
