PANJIM, APRIL 27 (HR) — The trade union activists today held a dharna in the city to protest against the price rise and the anti-people policies of the government.
In-order to support the nation wide general strike call given by the 13 non-UPA political parties, the CP) mounted pressure on the state government to fulfill their demands. The dharna vehemently criticised the faulty economic policies of the UPA government, which led to spiralling price rise of essential commodities.
They said that the assurance given by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to control price rise within hundred days has not been fulfilled.
“The biggest scam and scandals have taken place during the UPA government. The IPL scam and phone tap issue of political rivals in the name of national security is the biggest shame,” union leader Christopher Fonseca said.
During the protest several resolutions were passed like rolling back prices of petrol and diesel, controlling the prices of essential commodities, stopping violation of labour laws, setting up of national fund for unorganised sector etc.
