PANJIM: PWD Minister and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) MLA Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Wednesday said his party won’t keep quiet if any harm is done to the cow.
“One thing is sure, we worship Gau mata (cow),” Dhavalikar said in response to a question on the recent notification by the Central government on sale of cattle for slaughter.
Dhavalikar, speaking in Hindi while responding to questions from a journalist on the sidelines of a function at Old Goa, said, “Gau mata ko kucch bhi hua to hum awaj uthayenge nahi toh… (If any harm is caused to the cow then we will raise our voice, otherwise…),” Dhavalikar said.
The statement of the MGP leader attracts attention due to the recent controversy after right wing leader Sadhvi Saraswati said that beef eaters should be hanged. The Sadhvi had made this statement in Goa at a national convention of Hindus.
In the past Dhavalikar had made other statements that had got him in trouble including that women should not wear bikinis as it could get them into trouble.
