MAPUSA: Calling the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar as a bluff master, the Congress has asked the minister to tender an unconditional apology to the people for failing to solve the issues of water and roads in the State.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress District office, Mapusa, State Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar threatened to lead a morcha to the office of PWD minister if the issues plaguing the citizens are not solved within fifteen days.
He also assailed the minister for not fulfilling the promises he made to the people of Goa that the government would strive to provide 24 hours regular water supply and that hot-mixing of all the roads would begin by November 15. These promises were reportedly made by the minister on September 11, after the partial inauguration of the flyover at Tar-Bastora.
Dhavalikar had then announced that water supply and developmental works to the tune of Rs 361 crore would be taken up in Bardez taluka alone. He had even given breakup of these works: Aldona (Rs 19 crore), Mapusa (Rs 14 crore), Porvorim (Rs 28 crore), Siolim (Rs 41 crore), Tivim (Rs 14 crore), Calangute (Rs 31 crore) and Saligao (Rs 23 crore).
“The assurance of repairing all the roads has also not been fulfilled and many roads are still with potholes. It is such a sad state of affairs that the people did not receive water during Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali and now probably during Christmas the people will face the same,” he said.
Panjikar said.
He also lashed out at the PWD minister for not taking the initiative to improve the condition of the Pomburpa- Ekoshim road.
“Not even a year has passed, after the hot-mixing of the road, but the tar has washed off. However, till today nothing has been done about the same. Dhavalikar had said that the government is working and in control, but now it has been proved that the government has come to a standstill and is out of control,” he said.
