MARGAO: Dhirio lovers from Salcette, Pernem, Quepem, Goa Velho and other parts of Goa had to return disappointed on Sunday early morning from the outskirts of Saligao-Nagoa when a major bull fight involving lakhs of rupees bets never materialised due to the proactive steps of Goa Police especially PI Nolasco Raposo who was personally present and patrolling along with the personnel of Saligao and Calangute Police Stations early morning and sent the dhirio lovers packing from the site.
The dhirio lovers tried to regroup at Saligao and Nagoa junction but were chased away by the police.
As per the sources, one bull ‘Romeo’ from Mandrem was to battle out with another bull ‘Bhai’ from Khareband, Margao.
Huge money bets were laid by the dhirio lovers but nothing worked due to the strong police presence who were determined not to allow the dhirio lovers to assemble so also not to allow the bullfight. Finally, the organisers dropped the idea of hoisting the bullfight and the dhirio lovers had to return disappointed.
