PANJIM: With names of nearly one thousand health workers yet to get registered for COVID-19 vaccination, the State Health Authorities have written to the Centre requesting to re-open the Co-Win portal for registration of these frontline workers.
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has frozen the registration process for Goa for the first phase. Secretary Health Ravi Dhawan on Thursday chaired the crucial meeting with the officials of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Goa unit, Directorate of Health Services and District Collectors.

Speaking to the media persons post meeting, IMA Goa Chief Dr Vinayak Buvaji said that during the meeting DHS informed that they have communicated to the Union Ministry about possible technical error, which failed to reflect the names of nearly 1000 IMA health workers for vaccination drive.
“DHS has requested that the portal be re-opened for registration of these 1000 workers. The State is awaiting communication from the Centre to start the process,” he said.
Buvaji said that IMA is confident of a positive outcome in next couple of days. “Centre has to accept DHS request and reopen the portal. We are confident that the issue will be resolved,” he said.
The first phase of immunisation drive that commenced from January 16, will conclude on February 12. A total of 19,180 health workers have registered to get vaccinated, of which so far nearly 6,000 have been vaccinated
During the meeting, it was also informed that the registration process for the second phase of vaccination, covering frontline workers like police, journalists, government servants, would begin after February 8.
“The DHS has initiated process to gather the data,” Buvaji said.
