MARGAO: In a major fire, a scrapyard in Dicarpale, Davorlim was gutted. As the fire raged till late evening, it spread panic in the neighbourhood. The fire station informed that the incident occurred at 3.30 pm in the afternoon and that the fire tenders from Margao was sent and soon back up from Curchorem was also called. Firefighters had to use six fire tenders for the rescue operation. They added that a house located within the scrapyard too was gutted in the inferno. The reason for the fire and the amount of losses sustained is not known as fire continued in the night.
