The meeting was attended by all the police inspectors and the deputy superintendents of police of all the sub divisions. South Goa Superintendent of Police Shekhar Prabhudessai, DySP Dinraj Govekar, Sucheta Dessai, Sunita Sawant and others attended the meeting.
On the security preparation for the November BRICS summit so far, the DIG said, “We are ready and a very long series of training will be initiated at all levels and there will be constant flow of information, meetings and lots of agencies are feeding information to us.”
“When we say well equipped for the Summit, it not only means technology, but it also means the mental preparation which matters a lot,” Gupta said.
“The man behind the machine is important so to get them well equipped, we are also trying to train our people right from constable and upwards by imparting them proper skill with focus on capacity building,” he said.
The DIG was also briefed by the police inspectors of various police stations on the law and order problems in their jurisdictions.
The problems at the Marcaim temple, tension at Cutbona also found mentions at the meeting.
To this, the DIG advised his staff, “Wherever there is a tension in the society, we should record it and inform all the related functionaries including District Magistrate and the Sub divisional Magistrate also. This is to ensure that that everybody who has some responsibility is informed and devise some strategy to handle it.”
The DIG also reviewed the crime and law and order situations of the Police Stations of South Goa.
