Diggu defends self over bad roads

MARGAO: Asserting there’s no politics behind the delay in hot mixing city roads, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Thursday strongly refuted the allegations levelled by city BJP leaders accusing him of stalling road hot mixing works.

Reacting to the allegations by BJP leader Sharmad Raiturcar that execution of the hot mixing works were delayed for want of the ‘go ahead’ from the Margao MLA, Kamat said the hot mixing projects were kept on hold purely because of the ongoing sewerage and other works.
“I have no role to play in the delay in the execution of the road works, some of which were tendered during my tenure. I want to make clear that hot mixing works could not be executed because of the ongoing sewerage and other works. Where’s the question of politics coming into the execution of works when the PWD is monitoring and assessing the ground reality on a day-to-day basis?” he asked.
Kamat said the PWD has decided not to hot mix roads  without NOCs from various agencies.
