England’s search for a new Test head coach has intensified following Brendon McCullum’s departure from the role, with several high-profile names emerging as potential successors. Former England coach Andy Flower is widely regarded as the frontrunner, while Jonathan Trott and former India head coach Rahul Dravid have also been linked with the vacancy.
However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting coach Dinesh Karthik believes Flower is unlikely to take up the position despite being a strong candidate.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Cricket Podcast, Karthik praised Flower’s credentials but questioned whether the Zimbabwean would be willing to juggle England’s demanding international schedule with his existing franchise commitments.
“I genuinely doubt it. He’ll be a great candidate and should definitely be one of the names considered, but I would be very surprised if he took it, considering where England are,” Karthik said.
Flower currently serves as RCB’s head coach in the Indian Premier League and is also involved in various franchise competitions around the world. According to Karthik, balancing those responsibilities alongside England’s Test calendar would prove extremely difficult.
