PANJIM: The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has directed the government to initiate disciplinary proceedings against a police inspector for ‘gross misconduct’ over delay in registering a First Information Report (FIR) into a forgery complaint in 2011.
As per the order pronounced on Tuesday, the SPCA has also sought that action against Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar begin within 90 days of the date of this order, which has to be completed in a year’s time.
The order was on a petition filed by Mapusa-resident Raya Karapurkar who alleged the officer initially refused to register his complaint of forgery against one Vinita Gawde at Mapusa police station and when an offence was subsequently registered, the PI failed to carry out an investigation.
Karapurkar, in the police complaint had alleged that Gawde forged her birth certificate to get a job in a private firm and more so, forged declaration form by once again faking her date of birth.
In the order, the authority headed by (retd) Justice R M S Khandeparkar has asked Director General of Goa Police Kishan Kumar to submit periodical reports every three months and a detailed report within 15 days of conclusion of the proceedings.
The order comes a day after the SPCA recommended same action against DySP Gajanan Prabhudessai for omission of duty in another case in 2008.
