MARGAO: The TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has advised the BJP to discuss the Mhadei diversion issue at their core committee meeting rather than discussing the issue of the statue of Dr Jack de Sequeira.
Vijai was speaking after inaugurating a water-pipeline work at Maddel.
He said that if the Mhadei is diverted then Goa will have to merge into Karnataka. “Why hasn’t the BJP core committee discussed the diversion of waters issue of Mhadei. Our statue demand will remain but they should discuss Mhadei too,” he said.
Vijai made it clear that he would not be bound by what the BJP resolves. However, he also said that in a democracy, the BJP has a right to give its opinion.
“What we are facing today is the issue of water deficiency and the BJP core committee is expected to speak on the issue of Mhadei,” said Vijai confirming their stand for the statue of Dr Jack de Sequeira remains undiluted.
