PANJIM: Ahead of e-auctioning of ore on February 17, the directorate of mines and geology (DMG) has decided to collect samples of the first lot, of around half a million metric tons of ore to be auctioned, to avoid disputes in the future.
Sources confirmed that directions have been issued to staff to collect samples of the ore to be auctioned to avoid disputes over its quality. As per the sampling of the ore, the grade varies from 47 Fe- 56.50 Fe content.
The mines department had allowed prospective bidders to carry out inspections and samples of the stacked ore they have bid for after they raised doubts about the quality of the thousands of tons of stacked ore.
In a notification issued on February 7, mines director Prasanna Acharya had said that the inspection and sampling of lots would be permitted upon request from registered bidders after intimating the mine owner, to whom the ore belongs to allow inspection and sampling of the ore.
