PANJIM: The Health Department on Monday sought the resignation of senior cardiac consultant Dr Jagan Hanumanthu who was attached to Goa Medical College (GMC) after he was found registered at another institution in Telangana.
The action was taken after a Medical Council of India inspection found that Hanumanthu was yet to be relieved as a professor and Head of Department (HoD) from a medical college in Telangana.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane confirmed the development stating he has directed the government to accept his resignation and re-advertise the post.
Meanwhile, Hanumanthu on Monday was appointed as fulltime consultant and Head of Department of Cardiology at a hospital in South Goa.
