PONDA: Defending the decision to hold Zilla Panchayat elections on party lines, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said it would bring about stability in the ZP and the party can also rectify mistakes by candidates elected at the ZP level.
Parsekar was speaking at Shel, Nirankal-Bethora, during the campaign of BJP’s ZP candidate Deepak Naik Borkar, who is contesting from Borim ZP constituency.
“ZP elections on party lines will bring about stability in Zilla Panchayats and party can also correct any decision or mistakes by candidates elected at the ZP level. Besides, the party can also establish good contact with locals through the elected party candidates,” Parsekar observed.
He appealed to the people not to fall prey to any campaign against the BJP and to elect all the BJP candidates to strengthen the ruling party in the State and at the Centre.
Parsekar further said the government was doing well in managing major development works, despite financial problem after closure of mining for over two years.
South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik, Shiroda Sarpanch Sandesh Prabudesai, Borim Sarpanch Sanjay Gavde and panchas of Borim and Shiroda panchayats were present at the meeting.
