PANJIM: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Churchill Alemao has stated that no party should underestimate the NCP in the state and take them for granted ahead of the elections on April 23.
He said that the party has had a presence in the state and continue to be amongst teh people. “We don’t have any instructions from our national leaders regarding extending our support to anyone in the forthcoming elections. And therefore until there is a pre-poll alliance we will not share any platform with any party.”
NCP Goa President Jose Philip D’Souza said “Neither the national leaders of the Congress nor the State leaders have had any discussions with the NCP. However, our national leaders have asked to wait for the Congress to communicate.”
Stating that even people are demanding that like-minded secular parties should unite in fight, D’Souza said “We are still unaware of what is the thinking of the Congress party. Nobody should think that we do not have party workers and especially the Congress should not think that NCP does not have existence in the state. It is the need of the hour that we stand together and fight.”
