Double delight for Calangute at tiatr contest

Tiatrs ‘Omtea Kollxear Udok’ and ‘Dennem’ bagged the first and second places at the 40th Tiatr ‘A’ Group competition organised by Kala Academy

CALANGUTE: Calangute villagers are delighted with the achievements of village troupes’ tiatrs ‘Omtea Kollxear Udok’ and ‘Dennem’ for bagging the first and second places in the 40th Tiatr ‘A’ Group competition organised by Kala Academy.
The Tiatrs ‘Omtea Kollxear Udok’ by Matias Mascarenhas and ‘Dennem’ by Fr Doel Dias, assistant parish priest of St Alex Church, Calangute, bagged the first and second places in best direction and best Tiatr respectively besides winning many individual and group contests.
St Alex Church, Calangute, Parish Priest Fr Cipriano D’Silva was overwhelmed with the achievements of both the village troupes and congratulated the directors Mascarenhas and Fr Dias. “It was a proud moment for the village and villagers of Calangute as ‘Calangute’ was shinning for good reason due to splendid performances of village artistes and others. I hope such good things will continue in near future,” said Fr D’Silva.
Joseph Sequeira, ex-sarpanch and leader of Calangute, said: “I am happy that the two village troupes bagged the first and second prizes at the 40th Tiatr competition. 
The award for stage performance proves that Calangute has a vast talent. I wish the Directors, Mascarenhas and Fr Dias, and troupes all the best in the future.”
Clothildes Braganza, State President of Goa Pradesh Congress and a social worker of Calangute, said: “I am happy with the achievements of our village troupes and extend my congratulations.”
Ciriaco Dias, freedom fighter from Calangute, said: “My hats off to the winners, especially Matias and Fr Dias, for bringing laurels to our village. It was a good encouragement to the youth and others by the State government through Kala Academy.”
