MARGAO: Patorciana Fernandes of Gounloy, Nuvem, who is facing charges in a dowry death case registered by the Maina-Curtorim police, has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Sessions Court in Margao. The application, seeking protection from arrest, is scheduled for a hearing on December 5.
The Maina-Curtorim police, who issued a notice to Fernandes under Section 41 of the CrPC, have confirmed that the court has issued notices to them, the public prosecutor, and the defence advocate. The police authorities are prepared to oppose the anticipatory bail application and will submit their reply in court. Fernandes was booked for allegedly harassing and subjecting her daughter-in-law, Samanta Fernandes, 30, to cruelty while demanding dowry.
