Drainage kept open at Curchorem

CURCHOREM: For nearly a month, the RCC slabs that were removed to clean the main drainage near the railway station are still lying on the road with the drainage kept open.

It may be recalled that following incessant rains, the road near the railway station was flooded causing severe hardship to the motorists, pedestrians and nearby shopkeepers. After taking the cognisance of the Herald report, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar visited the site along with the officials and engineers and got it cleaned later.

However, it’s almost a month since the slabs, which were removed, are still lying on the road. Due to this, the drainage has been kept open causing inconvenience to the motorists and pedestrians.

When asked why the drainage is still not covered, Hodarkar informed that some part of the drainage has to be repaired and that is the reason the slabs are still lying on the road.
