MARGAO: The Railway Protection Force along with local police continued its drive to flush out anti-socials from the railway property at the Margao railway station on Thursday.
Day two of the ongoing drive saw the agencies rounding up around 37 persons, some of whom were let off after screening.
Sources in the know said the Railway Protection Force has now decided to cover the entire stretch of the railway property – right from the Comba to the Margao railway station to rid of anti-socials taking shelter in railway property.
The RPF have also take-up the question of illumination of the railway property at sensitive points.
While the area infront of the old railway station stands illuminated after a meeting brokered by the district Collector, the area between the old station foot bridge and the Margao flyover has no illumination facility.
Incidentally, the authorities have installed sodium lamps on the approach road to the old station footbridge, but there’s no illumination facility on the footbridge – the centre of many a robbery in recent times.
