MARGAO: A person with a light carriage vehicle hailing from Colva was caught dumping garbage at Borda near Multipurpose School. The locals informed the police and the local councillor, who rushed to the spot and took the occupants of the vehicle into custody and attached their vehicle. The driver meanwhile claimed that he had gone to Sonsodo to dump the garbage but some persons advised him to dump it in a dustbin on road side.
The Borda locals are already angry at the overflowing garbage.
Local Councillor Tito Cardozo, applauding the vigilant people, has exhorted the people in other localities to exercise the same vigil to keep the town clean.
The MMC garbage inspector has also assured strict action against the defaulters. He said that he would investigate who sent the garbage back from the plant. The occupants will have to pay a fine to the court for their release and the vehicle.
