PONDA: Police on Saturday arrested the accused driver Jaydeep Shirodkar involved in the fatal accident case reported at Shiroda on Wednesday night.
Earlier, Shiroda locals on Saturday marched to the Ponda Police Station demanding the arrest of the accused.
It may be recalled that 34-year-old Shiroda resident Prashant Pundalik Tari who was sitting on his scooter by roadside at Karay-Shiroda was allegedly hit by an unknown four-wheeler. Prashant sustained serious injuries and was lying on the road as nobody noticed him.
However, half-an-hour later he was shifted to Shiroda PHC, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled immediately after the accident.
