Drugs worth Rs 13 lakh seized from Nigerian in Anjuna

PANJIM: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) sleuths arrested a Nigerian national for allegedly possessing narcotics worth Rs 13.20 lakh.

PANJIM: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) sleuths arrested a Nigerian national for allegedly possessing narcotics worth Rs 13.20 lakh. An official said the alleged drug peddler identified as Joseph Ifeanyi Ozoemena, 32, was caught red-handed for possessing 24.118 gm of suspected LSD liquid, 72.961 gms of suspected cocaine and 9.804 gms of suspected DMT. He was caught at Anjuna while waiting for his prospective “customer,” the official said adding that an offence under Section 21 (b) and 22 (c) of the NDPS Act was registered. 
The arrest comes incidentally two days after Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar claimed that any illegal-doers, be it a Nigerian will not be tolerated. “Government will crackdown on illegal doers, whosoever it may be. I won’t tolerate even if the Nigerians are found doing illegal business,” he had said on the sidelines of the Grape Escapade 2017 festival launched on Thursday. 
The State authorities are on a drive against the nuisance makers along the beach belt following directions from the minister.
