Drishti Special Response Service (DSRS) on Tuesday claimed that despite absence of 200 lifeguards, Drishti lifeguard service was able to cover all the beaches under contract and ensure that no drowning incident took place.
In a press note, DSRS stated that this was possible because 100 lifeguards worked timelessly throughout the day and maintained vigil over the beaches, which otherwise uses the service of over 300 lifeguards.
“Inspite of the hurdle, the lifeguards on duty at Calangute successfully rescued a Russian woman from drowning,” states the press note.
Drishti management met the dissenting lifeguards on Tuesday evening and informed them that it was in their own interest that they resume duty at the earliest, as the company cannot take any decision on their demands of higher salary, reduced working hours. The management is confident that more lifeguards shall join duty on Wednesday, added the press note.
It may be recalled that Dristhi Surf Life in a press note on Monday had stated that about 85 lifeguards were misguided by a few elements to strike work from Baga to Miramar.
