Panjim: After over six months, the Dudhsagar waterfall will be open for tourists again, from October 15 following strict standard operating procedures (SOP) amidst the prevailing COVID pandemic.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday chaired a meeting to resume tourism activities at the Dudhsagar waterfall. The meeting also decided to introduce app-based booking for visits to the waterfall as well as for those want to go for trekking.
Speaking to reporters post the meeting, Sawant said that the government has decided to open Dudhsagar waterfall for tourists from October 15 following strict SOP. “The SOP has been prepared by the forest department and the visitors will have to strictly follow it,” he said. Sawant added that app-based booking will be taken from those who want to visit the waterfall.
Meanwhile, sources informed that considering the pandemic, the State forest department has decided to reduce the number of tourists allowed per jeep to the waterfall from seven to five per trip. The waterfall normally opens for tourism season from October 2.
The waterfall and the nearby Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife sanctuary at Mollem have been shut for visitors since March 15.
