Duo held for stealing eight mobile phones at Calangute beach

CALANGUTE: The Calangute police on Sunday arrested two West Bengal natives residing in Parra and recovered eight mobile phones they had stolen from visitors to the beach.

Bipin Kumar Tanti, 33, a resident of Tivim, native of Bihar, on Sunday lodged a complaint with the police stating that some unknown persons had stolen his two mobile phones worth Rs 18,000 on Saturday at around 5 pm.

During investigations, the accused persons, Rakib Aliyajam Mulla, 24, and Rasib Aliyajam Mulla, 22, both residents of Parra, Bardez and natives of Sandarpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, were caught and eight mobile phones of different makes all worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered from them, Calangute police said. Further investigations are on, said PI Paresh Naik.
