PANJIM: The Bicholim police have arrested two persons on the charge of executing a fake agreement with a company with regard to a property, thereby indulging in criminal conspiracy and theft of government property.
According to the police, the accused Sitabai Shantaram Talaunekar, her son Vidhyadhar and daughter Vanita, executed fake agreement with Dempo Mining Corporation Private Limited with regards to the property TirthangMayem Village of an area measuring 82,550 square metres for compensation of Rs 13 lakh in 2014. However, later it was found that the property was registered in the name of the Government of Goa.

Even there were no entries in the tenant and other rights columns which indicated that the accused indulged in criminal conspiracy and theft of government property.
Sitabai Talaunekar was arrested on November 18, 2023, and later released on bail. Vidhyadhar Talaunekar was arrested on November 20 and is in police custody, police said, adding Vanita Talaunekar is still at large.
