Examine government gazette notifications pertaining to road safety and traffic management and intimate the same to the panchayat
Identify steps the panchayat can take to address the issue or resolve the problems
Propose suggestions to the panchayat and follow up the same for their speedy implementation
Liaison with Assistant Engineer, PWD Roads to monitor and maintain roads and speed breakers in the village
Liaison with Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services to keep roads free from stray cattle and co-ordinate the use of the panchayat cattle pound
Ensure comprehensive road safety & traffic management plan for the village and pursue sub-plans which will include parking arrangements for educational institutions, religious places and places for public gathering and for feasts, zatras and fairs
Develop a data base of vehicles in the village.
Liaison with Directorate of Transport, Goa Police Traffic Cell, PWD and Ambulance Service 108 at GMC, National Highways Authority of India
Draw up a plan for enforcement, engineering & education with regard to road safety and traffic management for the village
Pursue the objective of comfortable, affordable, safe and efficient public transport and to see that all forms of transport (motorcycle pilots, auto rickshaws, yellow black & tourist taxis and buses) are available by identifying necessary bus stops & bays, stands, required infrastructure and signages
Ensure proper implementation and maximum participation in National Road Safety Week and State Road Safety Week
Promote Road Safety Patrol (RSP) scheme for students in the village
Promote Traffic Warden Scheme among villagers
Undertake regular training & other refresher courses for its members from the Directorate of Transport and Traffic Police
Liaison with the District Road Safety Council by submitting suggestions & action plans
