Coming down heavily on the Council, Panchwadkar said, “On several occasions the MMC has failed to provide the status report on the pre-monsoon work. It looks like the municipality is least bothered about the pre-monsoon work”
He was addressing the disaster management committee meeting, which was attended by representatives of various departments including MMC, police, NGOs and others.
He further said that without all stakeholders being ready with their action plans, it cannot be called a disaster management meet.
It may be recalled that the cyclonic rains in South Goa had kept the disaster management committee on its toes last season. Cases of uprooting of trees and other emergencies were reported in and around Salcete.
