MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Thursday hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day at Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex with a promise to boost agriculture tourism through organic farming.
On the occasion, the minister felicitated freedom fighters and praised their sacrifices during the freedom struggle.
“We have got opportunity to celebrate the Liberation Day because the freedom fighters gave their life and blood for the freedom of Goa,” Kavlekar said.
“We have a young chief minister who is working 18 hours every day and even as mining is down, he is not leaving any stone unturned to make Goa a model State,” Kavlekar said.
“We want to take a big leap in the agricultural sector and trying to make Goa an agriculture State. To bring the youngsters to agriculture, we have started a lot of work in organic farming and with these efforts we are sure the country will see us as the organic agriculture hub soon. With Goa becoming agriculture hub, there will be a lot of tourism in Goa which will boost employment for youth,’ he said.
“Heritage festival that never happened in Goa will happen soon in Goa and we are putting in a lot of efforts for the development and protection of archaeology,” Kavlekar added.
