PANJIM: The Directorate of Education has issued a circular directed heads of all Government and Government aided schools to regulate cost of the prospectus including admission forms at Rs 100 or the actual cost of printing whichever is lower.
The circular was issued following a demand by the Goa Unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) alleging that certain schools were charging excessive amounts for the sale of prospectus along with admission forms.
In the circular, Shailesh R Sinai Zingde, Director of Education stated: “It has been brought to the notice of the Directorate that certain schools are charging excessive amounts for the sale of prospectus along with admission forms.”
The directed has directed the Heads of all Government and Government aided schools in the State to strictly adhere to the instructions. The circular stated: “Under no circumstances shall any additional or hidden charges be levied under any pretext. Schools shall maintain transparency in cost calculation and make the same available for inspection, if required by the Directorate. Any violation of the above instructions shall be viewed seriously and may invite appropriate disciplinary action. The heads of all government and government aided schools are hereby instructed to ensure strict compliance with immediate effect.”
