MARGAO: There’s good news in store for students seeking admissions to the Chowgule Higher Secondary School, Margao.
Beleaguered students can now obtain the admission forms from the Department of Education, Margao from Monday or Tuesday.
Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar on Thursday made his presence felt in the Chowgule Education Complex along with BJP leader Damu Naik, Sharmad Raiturcar and others and had a meeting with College Principal Dr R V Gaonkar.
After the meeting, the chief Minister told waiting newsmen that admission forms for the Chowgule Higher Secondary School will be available in the office of education department, Margao from Monday and Tuesday.
He said that the government would take over the Chowgule higher secondary school from June 6 after the eight days notice period and will appoint an administrator to oversee the admission process.
“The eight day notice period expires on June 5. Our officer will take over the higher secondary school from June 6 and will take charge as an administrator”, he added.
Replying to a question, he said mixed campus at the Chowgule education society will not have any impact as and when the government takes over the higher secondary school.
“They can operate their college in the same premises. It’s only admissions. The teachers will be the same. We will only admit the students and run the classes”, he said.
BJP leader Damu Naik said that students seeking admissions in the Chowgule higher secondary school will get admissions from Monday or Tuesday. He said that students from Salcete and down South should not panic and wait for the admissions to open at the Chowgule HSS.
Meanwhile, Parrikar said the government could not start the process of take over of Chowgule higher secondary school without the management denying admissions to the students.
“We cannot do certain things preventive. Chowgule did not say they will not open admissions this year. Some people dream. Our role came into play only when they refused admissions. The process has started. It will take seven days”, he added.
