MARGAO: The embankment along the Paroda canal between Modemwado and Agramorod in Paroda further breached on Sunday, creating a dangerous situation where the whole embankment threatens to collapse.
However, Water Resources Department Assistant Engineer Ramesh Sawant has assured that the same would be repaired by Tuesday. Some day ago, a small portion of the embankment collapsed and the locals tried to pack it by using local material like banana plants. However, on Sunday a bigger portion collapsed and a deep crack was formed.
The engineer said officials had inspected the site and are working on it, while assuring that the breach would be repaired by Tuesday.
He said the department has attended to various maintenance works including the repairs of the well that was totally blocked by a coconut tree growing near it and lamented that people also misuse the canal.
“When we went to check why water was not reaching at Babsor in Guirdolim we discovered that a bucket was in the well blocking the flow of the water,” he said.
