PANJIM: Chief Minister and five-time MLA from Panjim, Manohar Parrikar, had an emotionally charged meeting with his workers on Thursday evening, where he asked them to continue their work for the party with dedication.
In his last meeting with hundreds of workers before being officially inducted in the Union cabinet, Parrikar promised to return to Goa to set things in place.
“He kept his speech short. Not just him, we all were very emotional. He has been a strong pillar for all of us,” said a BJP’s women’s-wing worker.
In his half hour long meeting, the chief minister explained that the decision to induct him in the Union cabinet came ‘all of a sudden’.
“He told us that he will return to Goa soon to put in place everything. In the meantime, he asked us to continue working for the State and remain united,” another worker, with tears in her eyes, said. “We will miss him. There is no replacement,” she added.
The chief minister ensured that he interacted with every party worker attending the meeting, many of who clicked pictures with him. After a morale boosting talk, Parrikar left for his official residence at Altinho to complete pending tasks before resigning from the post to take over the defence portfolio on Sunday.
