PONDA: Around 300 Third Year Engineering College students held a half-an-hour protest at Farmagudi over offline semester exams before answering following a request from the principal.
The classes were held online due to Covid-19 pandemic, so exams should also be online,” said the students.

They claimed that due to Covid-19 they had to attend classes online but faced many difficulties in understanding the topics.
“There were also Internet connection issues. Online education has limitations hence we demanded the exams online. Many of us couldn’t understand the topics taught online because we could not interact with teachers,” the students said.
The College Principal said the students “are misguided.” “The decision to hold offline exams was already taken by the Goa University earlier in consultation with students and exams that were scheduled for January 4 were postponed giving the students time for preparation and the exams began from today,” the principal said.
“Many college students even approached us for holding offline exams as they would benefit them in the future, claiming the degree obtained through offline exams would help them pursue further studies and also find employment,” he added.
Meanwhile the NSUI President Aheraj Mulla has warned of launching a morcha on the Goa University to demand to conduct the final year students’ exams online.
