VASCO: Vasco Police on Wednesday detained a 45-year-old engineer from Navelim on charges of playing a prank at Dabolim airport.
According to Vasco Police, the accused was travelling by Jet Airways from Goa to Mumbai. During routine frisking by the staff of Jet Airways, they found a metal object in his pocket.
Police informed that on questioning, the accused told the staff that he was carrying a bomb. When the staff sought to know whether he was joking, he said he was actually carrying a bomb.
Police further said that as the accused informed the staff that he was carrying a bomb, they took him aside and searched him thoroughly, due to which he missed his flight. During the search, the staff found a mobile phone in his pocket.
As the accused played a prank on the Jet Airways staff, they later handed him over to Vasco Police.
Vasco Police said the accused informed police that as he was interrogated again and again by the Jet Airways staff as to what he was carrying, he got frustrated and informed the staff that he was carrying a bomb.
Police said after taking a statement from the accused, they let him go and Head Constable V Pereira is investigating the case.
