VASCO: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar during a site inspection at Cortalim on Wednesday directed both DBL and PWD engineers to clear the debris along the road below the Zuari Bridge and the mud piled up on either side by June 10, 2020 to ensure no flooding occurs.

The site was inspected in presence of local MLA Alina Saldanha to find solutions to the various problems faced by the residents.
Similarly, after discussing with M/s DBL and PWD engineers, it has been decided to construct a parallel drainage from Cortalim main junction up to the Cross junction, which then will be connected to the cross drains to take care of the rainwater flowing down the hill to prevent flooding and to stop water from entering the houses.
On the request of the Cortalim farmers, the PWD Minister inspected the cross drains connecting the fields and directed DBL to ensure free flow of water.
He took the stock of the rainstorm water drain under construction at Sotrant partly by private builder and PWD/ DBL to ensure rainwater flows into the nullah and to prevent water logging along the internal Navta. These works also are to be completed by June 10.
MLA Alina Saldanha requested Pauskar and PWD Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar to ensure that these works are taken up at the earliest and completed as per the schedule as the residents are facing hardship for too long, ever since the beginning of the ongoing Zuari Bridge work.
Cortalim sarpanch Senia Pereira informed about the problems faced by the people residing along this stretch of the road and appealed to Minister and MLA to ensure that necessary measures discussed during the site inspection are taken up at the earliest.
