PANJIM: In a major relief to the builder lobby, the State Government is likely to amend the Goa (Regulation of Land Development and Building Construction) Act, 2008, allowing the entire building, probably located on the main road, in a complex to be used for commercial purpose, as against earlier rule of having commercial spaces only on the ground floor for each individual building.
Also, further along with motivating the builders to opt for multi-story parking facility for its complex, Government also intends to introduce compulsory two-wheeler parking space for each residential building.
The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Steering Committee chaired by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar met on Monday wherein the modification cum amendment to the Building Regulation and Construction Act was discussed.
Speaking to Herald, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for TCP Francis D’Souza said that government is working on modifying the regulation. He said that government is proposing to allow the entire building in a complex to be used for commercial purpose, as against earlier rule of having commercial spaces only on the ground floor for each individual building.
“But for that the particular building has to be located facing main road,” D’Souza said.
Deputy Chief Minister also said that government is considering the recommendation of North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) that proposed to make it mandatory to have multi-level parking for the upcoming commercial and residential complexes, by granting additional Floor Area Ratio (FAR). “We also intend to introduce compulsory two-wheeler parking for each building,” he said.
