PANJIM: Maharastrawdi Gomantak Party (MGP) will take a call on the entry fees issue within two weeks. The issue is embroiled in controversy after PWD issued the notification on May 14, imposing entry fees on Goan vehicles.
“We have seen the resistance from all corners and we will definitely discuss this issue in a meeting which will be held in two weeks time,” Narayan Sawant, working president of MGP said.
He said the party will take an appropriate stand on the said issues as opposition is coming from every corner. “So far we have not taken a stand but ofcourse MGP’s stand will be for the public’s benefit,” Sawant said.
The controversial notification had created chaos at all State borders on June 1, when PWD managed toll booths started charging entry fees for Goan vehicles to enter and exit the State. Presently the notification is kept in abeyance on the oral instruction of the chief minister.
All Goa Private Bus Owners Association have called a one-day token hunger strike at Dhargalim on Thursday demanding the withdrawal of the said notification which according to them, is illegal.
