Environmental researcher and Royal Swedish Academy Fellow Dr. Purabi Bose has highlighted the increasing instances of wild animals entering human settlements, citing reports of elephants straying into North Goa. Speaking at the closing ceremony of National Wildlife Week at the Museum of Goa, Dr. Bose attributed the phenomenon to dwindling food resources in forests.
She emphasized that the prevailing notion of “man-animal conflict” should be reframed as “co-existence,” urging communities and authorities to adopt strategies that allow humans and wildlife to live in harmony.
