PANJIM: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Friday announced that the draft panchayat ward delimitation proposals will be kept open in the office of Talathi for public scrutiny till March 2.
The draft, which was made public from Thursday, was initially kept open for suggestions and comments only in the office of Mamlatdar. However, considering the hardship, the citizens might face, the SEC decided to keep it at the village panchayat level too.
The SEC also said that public can access draft delimitation proposal even on Saturday and Sunday.
The Electoral Registrar Officers (EROs) will prepare the final delimitation proposals after considering the suggestions or modifications or corrections of the public and submit the same to the Commission through the respective District Collectors on or before March 8.
Before notification, the SEC will also seek government comments.
The elections to the 186 panchayats are due in June.
The delimitation of wards has been done using web-based system. The wards are constituted considering the geographical contiguity and natural boundaries and number of voters.
